Couples therapy for internal comms and HR: Can this relationship be saved?

A lighthearted intervention for the most overlooked relationship in the workplace
When it comes to HR and internal comms, it’s a classic case of same goals, different styles.
Both want to build belonging, drive engagement, and create an exceptional employee experience. But when these two teams aren’t aligned? You’re saddled with mixed messages, missed opportunities, and a whole lot of confusion for your people.
That’s where we come in.
In this special “couples therapy” webinar session, we’re inviting HR and comms leaders to the metaphorical couch — for an honest, funny, and refreshingly candid conversation about what it really takes to collaborate better.
Together, we’ll unpack:
- The root causes of HR-comms tension
- Where the partnership tends to break down — and how to rebuild trust
- Tips on moving from misalignment to mutual impact
- What a great working relationship really looks like in action
Whether you sit in HR, internal comms, or somewhere in between, this session will leave you with laughter, empathy, and practical ideas for working better together.
Let’s make this relationship work
Meet our “couple”
Chuck Gose - ICology
Chuck Gose is a self-proclaimed Skyline Chili connoisseur and dedicated Duran Duran fan with nearly 30 years of experience in marketing, corporate communications, and internal communications. His passion for this work began early in his career at companies like General Motors and Rolls-Royce, where he saw firsthand how internal communications can drive real success.
Today, Chuck leads ICology, a community and resource built to inspire communicators to do more, be more, and realize just how much more they already are. He’s also the co-host of Frequency, a podcast with Jenni Field where we explore the everyday rhythms and stories that shape how organizations communicate and thrive.
Over the years, Chuck has partnered with some of the world’s most well-known brands to help them rethink how they connect with employees, from the shop floor to the corner office. He is also the co-creator of the Periodic Table of Internal Communications and co-author of The Very Hungry Communicator.
Jennifer McClure - DisruptHR
Jennifer McClure is a professional speaker, strategist, and leader on a mission to empower organizations and People Leaders to thrive in the ever-evolving world of work.
As a former human resources executive, executive search consultant, and high-impact leadership coach, Jennifer has held leadership roles across a variety of industries, and have helped leading global organizations to hire and develop high-performing leaders that drive business results.
Jennifer’s education and work experience have instilled in her a deep understanding of the intricate challenges organizations face — but more importantly — it’s fueled her belief in the immense potential that lies within every individual and team.
That’s why she shifted from being an HR and recruiting practitioner in 2010, to professional speaking and training: to help leaders unlock this potential and propel their organizations towards success.
In addition to her work with leaders and organizations to prepare for the future of work, in 2013, Jennifer extended her mission by founding DisruptHR, a global community that sparks progressive conversations about talent, culture, and technology in the workplace.
